NWF 40 Gold Completes Unbelievable Four-Peat
Almost impossible to imagine, but it happened.  After the NWF 40 three-peat last season, RMAHL changed the playoff format to make it a little more fair. They added a round robin playoff format.  Giving many teams more chances to make it to the championship game. The 40 stayed focused and finished first in the regular season earning them a win in the first round of the playoffs.  Then with the help of two very strong efforts,  won the next two games to earn them the home spot in the championship game. Bob Carlevato remains undefeated between the pipes in the playoffs, since joining the team. He shut out the Warpigs with the support of some very determined teammates.  John Cherry  followed with a 5-1 victory over GC 4.0.  Henri Ilus and Alex Botvinnik led the team in scoring.  The entire team played like true champions with a relentless forecheck.  It was Andy’s turn to fill the net for the championship game. Being the true team player he is, knowing John Cherry hadn’t had an opportunity to play a championship game, he offered the spot to Johnny.  It helped his decision that he already had two championship games under his belt.  The team supported the decision and together with JC defeated the Grim Reapers in a very close, hard fought game. First year 40 player Tim (Segs) Segneri snagged the game winner late in the third.   Securing an unprecedented four-peat!

The 2017 season started with a meeting and a vision.  The 40 had a plan.  Add a talented offence, secure consistent goaltending, and implement disciplined defense. In addition to MVP Duncan Fader #12, Alex Botvinnik #21 and Chad Bradish #18 shared a season adding more speed. We added awesome forwards Henri Ilus #90, and Chris Pupillo #32. Both had an outstanding season and fit right in with the NWF organization. That was in addition to an already solid squad from the last session.  Our Goaltending was bolstered with the addition of John Cherry #35 and Andy (OZ) Osvath #58.  Our goalies were solid throughout the season despite serious injuries.  Neither could make the playoffs due to injury so we reached out to Bob Carlevato #1 who just crushed the playoffs with two outstanding games.  Bob will be a sub going forward.  Our defense had less penalties than any other year and led by Jimmy Pulver #5, helped keep our opponents at bay throughout our 15 and 4 season.  Our entire defense was consistent, relevant, and hard to get around this season. Playoff standouts were, Duncan Fader, Henri Ilus, Brian Bishop #22, Vince Zambuto #39, Mike Wolf #11, veterans and solid contributors Les Olszynski #33 and Owen Kennedy #7, and the entire defense.  A great season thanks to a “bunch of guys who love the hockey game”.  Looking forward to another strong season in the fall. Congrats!
