I am so unsettled during this pandemic. I cannot believe I have had to shelve almost an entire year of playing hockey. Most guys playing today can weather that storm, but how about a guy that’s 67 years old. I was going into 2020 thinking this summer would probably be my last based on my level of play. I have always said if I am not able to contribute, I need to retire. Now I am really working hard on my bike and in my basement workout room to try to squeeze out another year.
I know, enough whining. I really think if we look carefully down the end of the tunnel, you will be able to see the light. The vaccine is coming and with it we will see a reduction of virus cases. I am guessing we will be able to have a spring league. We might still have to wear masks into the rink, but we should be able to play games in a league. What does that mean? It means the Flyers will be Flying soon. We had a long time to think about that last championship. It is time to get back out there and get back what is rightfully ours.
I will be reaching out to all of you to confirm that you will still be playing. As soon as I get word, I will contact everyone. Hang in there, stay safe, and start planning out your return.
